| Beschrijving keerzijde | Isis depicted standing facing, her figure rendered in the Hellenistic tradition common to provincial bronzes of Epirus. She rests her right hand upon a long sceptre and holds a situla (ritual bucket) in her lowered left hand, attributes emblematic of her role as a fertility and mystery deity. The reverse legend ΝΕΙΚΟΠΟΛΕωϹ, identifying the issuing city of Nicopolis, is disposed around the field. The composition reflects the strong Egyptian religious influence prevalent throughout the Greek provincial coinage of the Hadrianic period. |
