| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted three-quarter from the rear in the characteristic provincial style. The imperial effigy displays paludamentum fastened at the shoulder, with the cuirass visible beneath. The encircling Greek legend names the emperor with his full imperial titulature, rendered in lunate sigma characteristic of the period. The surface shows heavy patination consistent with prolonged circulation, obscuring finer detail of the portrait modelling. |

The figural group is rendered in the robust, somewhat schematic style typical of Carian provincial bronzes. The surrounding Greek legend in the field, partially illegible due to wear and corrosion, names the local magistrate (strategos) Alkimos and the civic ethnic of the Stratoniceans.
