正面描述 Draped bust of Empress Salonina facing right, wearing a stephane or diadem, rendered in the typical provincial portrait style of the mid-third century. The effigy is set within a beaded or dotted border, with the Greek imperial titulature arranged as a circular legend around the bust. The portrait displays the characteristic coiffure and idealized features associated with Salonina's official iconography on eastern provincial bronzes.

附加信息

Cyzicus held the title of neokoros — temple warden of the imperial cult — multiple times over, and the civic pride attached to that status was considerable enough to stamp it onto the bronze coinage well into the third century. By the time Gallienus ruled alone after Valerian's capture by Shapur I in 260, the city was operating with unusual autonomy; the catastrophic pressures on the central Roman administration left provincial mints and civic issues running largely on their own momentum.

Civic bronze of this type effectively ceased across most of Asia Minor within a decade of this issue, killed off by the monetary chaos of the 260s rather than any deliberate policy.
