| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, with the portrait rendered in the provincial style typical of Phrygian civic coinage. The effigy presents the emperor in military dress, the cuirass indicated by patterned engraving at the truncation. A Greek imperial legend surrounds the bust, running along the periphery of the flan. |

| Reverse description | Demeter portrayed standing facing, her head turned to the left, rendered in long flowing robes in the classical tradition. In her right hand she holds ears of corn, and in her left hand a long torch, both attributes emblematic of her role as goddess of the harvest and the Eleusinian Mysteries. The civic legend of Hieropolis is disposed around the figure in the field, identifying the issuing city. |
