| Obverse description | Bare-headed, cuirassed and paludamentum-draped bust of Commodus, depicted with short beard, facing left with the rear of the cuirass visible — an unusual back-facing presentation. The retrograde Greek legend surrounds the bust in the field, employing alpha forms with a curved crossbar characteristic of this local mint. The portrait reflects the early regnal style of Commodus, consistent with provincial bronzes struck in the Troad during approximately 180–182 CE. |
