| Beschrijving keerzijde | Zeus, clad in a himation draped over his lower body, is depicted enthroned and seated to the left upon a high-backed throne. In his extended right hand he holds a patera, symbolic of divine libation, while his left hand rests upon a long vertical sceptre. The composition reflects the canonical Zeus Nicephorus type favored in Bithynian civic coinage. The ethnic legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ (of the Nicaeans) is inscribed in the field, asserting the civic identity of the issuing city of Nicaea. |
