| Beschrijving voorzijde | Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Caracalla facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Bithynian civic coinage. The emperor's effigy displays a radiate laurel wreath and short beard, consistent with his mature portraiture. The circular Greek legend runs along the periphery of the flan, partially obscured by the coin's irregular edge. The overall style reflects the workmanship of a local provincial mint operating under Roman imperial authority. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Nicaea's civic bronze issues under Caracalla were produced during a period when Bithynian cities competed aggressively for imperial favor through coin flattery — Nicaea and Nicomedia in particular maintained a long rivalry, each minting prolifically to assert status as the region's preeminent city. That competition is partly why the civic bronze output from Nicaea during this reign is so varied in type.
