Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of the emperor Caracalla facing right, seen from the front, rendered in the characteristic military portrait style of the Severan period. The obverse legend M AVR ANTONINVS PIVS AVG runs peripherally around the effigy, identifying the emperor by his full adoptive nomenclature. The drapery is visible at the shoulder, giving the bust a cuirassed or paludamented appearance typical of provincial bronze coinage of this era.
