Its colonial status — and the right to strike autonomous bronze coinage that came with it — was periodically reaffirmed by emperors seeking regional goodwill. Caracalla's reign saw intensified activity at several Mysian colonial mints, likely connected to his movements through the eastern provinces during his ultimately fatal Parthian campaign.
