Apollonia ad Rhyndacum was a minor Mysian city whose civic coinage under Caracalla reflects the broader pattern of Asian conventus cities leveraging imperial portrait issues to assert local prestige rather than meet any practical monetary need. Bronze at this weight circulated within the immediate region at best, and most surviving civic bronzes from the Cyzicus conventus show minimal wear consistent with limited local use.
The V.2 reference places this firmly within Weber's corpus of Mysian issues, a dataset still considered authoritative for this conventus despite its age.
