Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Antoninus Pius facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Alexandrian coinage. The emperor's effigy displays the customary radiate wreath of laurel, with facial features typical of mid-Antonine portraiture. The surrounding Greek legend fills the field around the bust, reading from upper left. The flan is irregular in shape, as is common for struck bronze issues of Roman Egypt.

Reverse description Standing figure of Elpis (personification of Hope) facing left, robed in a long chiton, with her right hand raised holding a flower or blossom before her and her left hand gathering her garment at the side. The pose follows the canonical Alexandrian type for Elpis, derived from Hellenistic prototypes. The regnal date legend L ΔωΔΕΚΑΤΟΥ, denoting the twelfth regnal year of Antoninus Pius (148–149 CE), is distributed in the field around the figure.
