Reverse description A draped female figure, likely the Tyche or personification of Samosata, seated left on rocks or a throne, wearing a turreted crown (kalathos) and holding attributes consistent with civic personifications in Syrian provincial coinage. The figure is rendered in a static, frontal composition typical of Commagenian civic types. A circular Greek legend surrounds the type, reading Φ ϹΑΜΟϹΑΤ ΙΕΡ ΑϹΥ ΑΥΤΟΝΟ ΜΗΤΡΟ ΚΟΜ, asserting the city's sacred, inviolable, and autonomous status as metropolis of the Commageneans. The reverse field bears a dark patina with earthen deposits. The flan is slightly irregular, consistent with hand-struck provincial bronze production.
