| 裏面の説明 | Tetrastyle temple enclosing a cult statue of Artemis Leukophryene, the principal deity of Magnesia ad Maeandrum, standing facing with typical supports at her sides. The goddess is crowned by two flying Nikai descending from above, flanked by two eagles with outspread wings standing on the temple steps, a device symbolic of divine favour and imperial sanction. The reverse legend naming the local magistrate Dioskourides as grammateus (civic secretary) and the ethnic of the Magnesians is distributed around the composition, reflecting the civic pride of this important Ionian city. |
