| Obverse description | Winged, turreted, and draped bust of Tyche facing left, personifying the city of Nicopolis. The turreted crown identifies the figure as a civic Tyche, while the wings are an iconographic attribute specific to the Tyche of Nicopolis. The encircling Greek legend ΙΕΡΑ ΝΙΚοΠοΛΙϹ frames the bust, with the note that the lunate sigma (Ϲ) may appear in the form of a reversed zeta on certain specimens. The flan is irregular, consistent with provincial hammered bronze coinage of the Antonine period. |

| Reverse description | Seated figure of Aktia facing left, personifying the Aktian Games (Actia) celebrated at Nicopolis, founded by Augustus to commemorate his victory at the Battle of Actium in 31 BC. The figure holds an agonistic crown in the extended right hand and a palm-branch in the left, both attributes emblematic of athletic and musical victory. The reverse legend ϹΕΒΑϹΤοΥ ΚΤΙϹΜΑ, meaning 'Foundation of Augustus,' is distributed in the field, emphasising the Augustan origin of the city. The overall composition is typical of Epirote provincial bronze coinage struck under Antoninus Pius. |
