| Obverse description | Draped bust of the personified Senate (ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ) facing right, depicted with veiled and wreathed head in the manner of a matron, the drapery rendered in typical provincial style. The Greek legend encircles the bust within the field, reading ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ, meaning 'Sacred Senate', a common honorific type issued by cities of the Conventus of Smyrna under the joint reign of Valerian and Gallienus.
