| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Volusian facing right, portrayed three-quarter from the rear, with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The emperor's effigy displays a radiate crown of laurel and carefully rendered military dress. The peripheral Latin legend encircles the bust, partially preserved on the flan. The portrait is executed in the vigorous provincial style characteristic of the Alexandrian Troas mint. |

| Additional information |
Alexandria Troas held the status of a Roman colony — Colonia Alexandria Augusta Troas — granted under Augustus, which is why its civic bronzes carry the COL AVG TROA formula rather than a Greek civic legend. The city retained unusually active local bronze production into the third century, long after many Asian civic mints had wound down. Trebonianus Gallus reached the throne following the deaths of Decius and his son Hostilian in 251, a transition marked by military crisis and plague. His two-year reign generated a relatively thin body of provincial issues overall.
