The surrounding Greek legend runs clockwise around the obverse field, identifying the emperor with his full titulature. The flan is slightly irregular, as is typical of struck provincial bronzes of this period. |

A lion, the sacred animal of Cybele, crouches at her feet to the left, reinforcing her divine identity. The composition reflects the strong local religious significance of the Cybele cult at Magnesia ad Sipylum, situated near Mount Sipylus. The reverse legend naming the issuing city is disposed around the field. The striking is characteristic of provincial civic bronzes of the Trajanic period. |
