Reverse description Tyche of the city of Edessa seated left upon a rocky outcrop, holding corn ears in her extended hand, personifying the city's fortune and fertility. A lighted altar is depicted at her feet, and below the rock a river god swims left, representing the Daisan (Skirtos) river on whose banks Edessa was founded. The composition follows the standard civic reverse type for Edessan bronzes of the Severan period, with the Greek legend of the city distributed around the field.
