The goddess holds a long spear upright in her left hand and extends a patera in her right hand over a small lighted altar to her side. The composition follows the standard civic type of Athena as divine patron, rendered in the provincial Greek style characteristic of Asia Minor coinage under the Severan dynasty. The ethnic legend of the Nysaeans borders the reverse field. |
