| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Septimius Severus facing right, depicted from the front with characteristic bearded portrait. The emperor wears a laurel wreath and muscled cuirass, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Bithynian civic coinage. The legend encircles the bust in Greek characters along the border of the flan. The portrait conveys the mature, authoritative effigy of the emperor as established during the Severan dynasty. |
