Bagis was a minor Lydian city whose civic coinage under Septimius Severus is notable largely for its administrative inscriptions naming local magistrates — here Gaios, identified as first archon. These magistrate-attributed bronzes from small Lydian mints were issued in limited runs tied to specific civic occasions or religious festivals, which is why survival rates are low and matched die pairs are rarely documented.
