| Reverse description | Hades-Sarapis, depicted in long chiton and himation, stands facing with head turned to the right. His left hand rests upon a tall sceptre while his right hand is extended downward toward Kerberos (Cerberus), the three-headed guardian of the underworld, crouching at his feet. The syncretic deity combines the attributes of Hades and the Graeco-Egyptian Sarapis, reflecting the religious eclecticism common in the cities of the Lydian conventus. The magistrate's name and civic ethnic appear in the reverse field legend. |
