Reverse description Artemis, the patron deity of Ephesus, depicted standing and facing right in dynamic posture, grasping the antlers of a stag and pulling the animal's head downward in a masterful display of divine authority over wild nature. The goddess is shown in hunting attire, consistent with her role as Potnia Theron, Lady of the Beasts. The Greek civic legend identifying Ephesus and its twice-neocorate status is distributed around the periphery of the reverse field.
