Additional information

Docimeum owed its prosperity almost entirely to the marble quarries in its territory — the famous marmor Phrygium, or Pavonazzetto, prized across the Roman world for its purple-veined white stone. Septimius Severus was an aggressive consumer of that material, using it extensively in his building programs in Rome and North Africa. The city had good reason to strike civic bronze in his name.

V.2#470 is a scarce reference within the Synnada conventus series.
