Obverse description Radiate and draped bust of the local deity Apollo Lairbenos facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Phrygian civic coinage. The radiate crown distinguishes the syncretic solar aspect of the god, while the drapery falls over the left shoulder. The Greek legend ΛΑΙΡΒΗΝΟϹ appears in the field, identifying the deity by his epithet associated with the sanctuary at Hierapolis in Phrygia. The flan is slightly irregular, as is characteristic of provincial bronze issues of the mid-third century AD.
