| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Philip II as Caesar facing right, depicted from the rear, with the paludamentum visible across the left shoulder. The effigy is rendered in the provincial Roman style characteristic of Mysian mint production under Philip I. The encircling Latin legend PHILIPPVS PIVS A runs around the periphery of the flan. The flan is irregular and shows typical characteristics of hand-struck provincial coinage. |
