| Beschrijving keerzijde | A serpent coiled around a tall Apolline tripod cauldron, the reptile's body wrapping in multiple loops around the three legs and rising above the bowl, its head erect at the apex. This type is strongly associated with the Apolline sanctuary at Nicopolis and reflects the city's religious identity. The reverse legend ΙΕΡΑϹ ΝΕΙΚΟΠΟΛΕΩϹ, meaning 'of sacred Nicopolis', is disposed around the field. The overall style is typical of Epirote provincial bronzes of the mid-third century AD. |
