| Obverse description | Bare head of the emperor Nero facing left, rendered in the Julio-Claudian portrait tradition with characteristic youthful features. A lituus (augural staff) is depicted in the field before the portrait. The encircling Greek legend reads ΝΕΡΩΝ ΚΛΑΥΔΙΟΣ ΚΑΙΣΑΡ ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The portrait is modelled in relatively high relief typical of provincial bronze coinage of Bithynia under the early Principate. |
