Obverse description Veiled and draped bust of the personified Roman Senate (ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ) facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Ionian civic coinage under Maximinus Thrax. The veil falls in soft folds over the shoulders, and the drapery is indicated by lightly incised lines. The Greek legend ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ, meaning 'Sacred Senate,' is disposed around the periphery of the flan.
