| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Maximus (Caesar) facing right, as seen from the front, with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The portrait displays the youthful features characteristic of this prince, rendered in the provincial style typical of the Alexandria Troas mint. The encircling Latin legend names the Caesar in the nominative, partially retrograde. The flan is slightly irregular, as is common for hammered provincial bronzes of this period. |
