Reverse description Nude Apollo standing with his right foot resting upon an omphalos, his head turned to the left, holding a laurel branch in his raised right hand and resting his left hand upon his bent knee. The reverse legend ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΕΩΝ, inscribed in the field around the figure, identifies the issuing civic authority of Philadelphia in Lydia. Notable epigraphic features include Φ rendered in the form ·|·, Δ with extended serifs, and Ω as a closed arch (∩), all characteristic of localised letterform conventions in provincial Lydian coinage of the Antonine period.
