| Additional information |
Parium held a peculiar status among Mysian colonies — its Roman colonial identity, reinforced under Hadrian with the expanded title Colonia Gemella Iulia Hadriana Pariana, meant its bronzes carried Latin legends long after neighboring cities had settled into Greek. This piece dates to the co-reign of Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus or the sole reign following Verus's death in 169, a period when the colony's mint was active enough to produce a recognizable range of types despite Parium's modest provincial standing.
