Nysa ad Maeandrum was a prosperous inland city of Lydia whose civic coinage flourished under the Antonines precisely because the city had the administrative standing — and the wealth — to petition Rome for minting rights within the Ephesian conventus. The magistrate name ΔΙΟΔΟΤΟΥ identifies this as a civic bronze tied to a specific annual eponymous office, a local accountability mechanism that also happened to give modern collectors a rough chronological anchor.
The year 162–163 places this issue in the opening months of Marcus Aurelius's sole reign following the death of Antoninus Pius, before the Parthian War fully redirected imperial attention eastward.
