Reverse description Eagle standing facing on a thunderbolt with wings spread wide, head turned to the left, holding a wreath in its beak — a powerful Jovian symbol frequently employed on Pontic civic bronzes. The bird is rendered with fine detail in the provincial tradition, its talons firmly gripping the thunderbolt. The encircling Greek legend names the free city of Amisus and includes the civic era date ϹΜΘ (249), corresponding to 217–218 AD in the Pontic calendar.
