| 背面描述 | The emperor Gordian III, laureate and clad in military dress, stands facing left at centre, pouring a libation from a patera held in his right hand over a flaming altar, while his left hand holds an oblique spear or hasta. Flanking the imperial figure are two legionary vexilla: the left standard is surmounted by the forepart of a bull, emblem of Legio VII Claudia, and the right standard is surmounted by the forepart of a lion, emblem of Legio IIII Flavia Felix, both garrisoned in Moesia Superior. The encircling reverse legend P M S COL VIM and the dating formula AN IIII in the field record the fourth year of the Viminacium colonial era, corresponding to AD 242–243. |
