Obverse description Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted from behind, with the radiate crown rendered in low relief. The portrait exhibits the youthful physiognomy characteristic of this emperor, with short-cropped hair beneath the radiate diadem. To her left stands a bull facing right, and to her right a lion faces left, both animals serving as the emblematic creatures of the two legions stationed in the province. The colonial mint formula and regnal year legend appear in the exergue and field, framed within a beaded border.
