Obverse description Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted from the rear, with the spiky radiate crown clearly rendered above the youthful imperial portrait. The paludamentum is fastened at the shoulder and the cuirass is visible beneath the drapery. A Greek legend encircles the bust within the coin's border, identifying the emperor by his full titulature.
