| 表面の説明 | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the front, with paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The imperial effigy displays the youthful features characteristic of this emperor, with the laurel wreath clearly delineated atop the head. The circular legend runs along the periphery of the flan, partially legible on this worn specimen. The die work reflects the provincial style of the Ionian mint at Magnesia ad Maeandrum, with somewhat coarse but expressive modelling of the bust. |

| 裏面の説明 | A serpent coils upward around a cista mystica, the sacred wicker basket associated with the Dionysiac mysteries, shown with its lid open to the left. The serpent, rendered with scaled body detail, rises prominently from within or beside the basket, evoking the mystical religious rites practised at Magnesia. The ethnic legend ΜΑΓΝΗΤΩΝ is disposed around the field, identifying the issuing city of Magnesia ad Maeandrum. The composition is centred on the flan and reflects the city's strong association with Dionysiac cult imagery, a recurring reverse type in the coinage of this mint during the Severan and Gordian periods. |
