The ethnic legend ΜΑΓΝΗΤΩΝ is disposed around the field, identifying the issuing city of Magnesia ad Maeandrum. The composition is centred on the flan and reflects the city's strong association with Dionysiac cult imagery, a recurring reverse type in the coinage of this mint during the Severan and Gordian periods. |
