| 裏面の説明 | The eponymous hero and mythological founder Miletos stands facing left in full figure, his right foot resting upon the prow of a ship, evoking the city's maritime heritage. In his left arm he holds a large round shield, while his right hand grasps an upright lance or spear. The figure is rendered in a static, hieratic style typical of Mysian civic bronze coinage, with the Greek legend distributed around the field identifying the subject as the founder of the city. |

Miletopolis was a minor Mysian city whose civic coinage under Gordian III leaned heavily on founder mythology — the ΚΤΙϹΤΗϹ ("founder") epithet on this issue invokes the city's claimed Milesian origins, a rhetorical gesture common among small Anatolian mints anxious to assert Greek pedigree under Roman rule. The reference to Miletus as founding city was a point of civic pride pressed into bronze.
RPC VII.1 #89 is sparsely attested in major collections.
