| Opis rewersu | Draped, veiled, and turreted bust of Tyche, the city goddess of Edessa, facing right, flanked on either side by a six-pointed star in the field. The mural crown (turreted headdress) identifies Tyche as the personification and divine protectress of the colonia. The reverse legend ΜΗΤ ΚΟΛ ΕΔΕϹϹΗΝωΝ, meaning 'Metropolis Colonia of the Edessenes', encircles the bust and affirms the city's elevated colonial status. The style is characteristic of the Edessene provincial workshop, with a broad, flat flan and somewhat coarse engraving. The reverse shows heavy surface corrosion and patination, though the turreted crown and flanking stars remain discernible. |
