| Descrizione del dritto | Bare-headed, youthful bust of the hero Kyzikos facing right, depicted with flowing hair in a style reminiscent of Hellenistic portraiture. The effigy displays a diademed or wreathed head with fine, curling locks falling behind the neck. A serpent is represented in the lower field beneath the portrait, a symbol closely associated with the founding mythology of the city of Cyzicus. The obverse legend identifying the hero appears in the field. The flan is irregular, typical of provincial bronze coinage of the mid-third century. |
