Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, depicted in the Severan style with characteristic youthful features. The effigy is rendered in moderate relief, surrounded by a Greek imperial legend arranged around the circumference of the flan. The portrait shows drapery at the shoulder, consistent with provincial bronze coinage of the period. The coin exhibits an irregular flan typical of Bithynian civic bronze issues of the early third century AD.
