| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, the radiate crown rendered with pronounced spikes. A Greek imperial legend surrounds the effigy in the field, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature. The portrait exhibits the provincial style characteristic of Syrian Coele mint workshops of the early third century AD. |
