Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Elagabalus facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style. The emperor's portrait displays a youthful effigy with a laurel wreath encircling the head, with drapery visible at the truncation of the shoulder. The circular Greek legend runs along the outer border of the flan. The portrait occupies the central field in relatively high relief for a provincial bronze issue.

Reverse description The emperor depicted in full military dress, standing facing with head turned to the left, holding an inverted spear in his right hand and a patera in his left. At his feet, a captive is seated to the left with hands bound behind his back, symbolizing Roman military victory. The ethnic legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ is inscribed in the field or along the border, identifying the issuing city of Nicaea in Bithynia.
