Reverse description Ares, god of war, depicted standing in a frontal pose with head turned to one side, clad in military attire. The deity holds an upright spear in one hand and rests the other hand upon a grounded shield at his side. The figure is rendered in the typical provincial Greek style of the Severan period, occupying the central field of the coin. The ethnic legend of the issuing city encircles the reverse type in Greek script. The overall surface presents a thick, encrusted patina consistent with a heavily weathered bronze provincial issue.
