| 裏面の説明 | Dionysus, the patron deity of Lebedus, depicted standing facing with head turned to the left, holding a cantharus (wine cup) in his extended right hand and a long thyrsus (fennel staff tipped with a pine cone) in his left. The god is rendered in a static, frontal pose typical of provincial civic bronzes of Asia Minor. The ethnic legend of the issuing city appears in the field, enclosed within a dotted border. |

Lebedus was one of the twelve cities of the Ionian League but had been largely overshadowed by neighboring Ephesus for centuries by the time Elagabalus came to power. The city's coinage under his reign is sparse, and civic bronzes bearing the ΛΕΒΕΔΙΩΝ ethnic are scarce enough that die linkages across known examples have not been fully mapped in the standard references.
Elagabalus himself reigned just four years before being murdered by the Praetorian Guard alongside his mother Julia Soaemias in 222 AD, their bodies dragged through Rome's streets.
