Obverse description Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, portrayed from behind, with the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder and the musculature of the cuirass rendered in low relief. The Imperial effigy occupies the central field, surrounded by a beaded border. The Greek legend Μ ΑΥΡΗ ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟϹ ΑΥΓ, identifying the emperor as Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus, runs around the periphery. The flan is irregular in shape, as is typical of provincial bronze coinage of this period.
