Magnesia ad Maeandrum was one of the more active bronze-striking cities of the Maeander valley under the Severan dynasty, and issues naming a local magistrate — here ϹΕΚΟΥΝΔΟC, a Latinized name reflecting the deep Roman administrative penetration of the Ionian civic elite — allow prosopographers to track individual careers across multiple reigns. Secundus, if the same man, may appear on other civic bronzes from this conventus.
Elagabalus's reign produced an unusually dense run of provincial issues across Asia Minor, partly because his court's instability accelerated local flattery cycles.
