Reverse description Standing cult statue of Apollo Smintheus depicted on a short column, facing right, with a quiver at his shoulder; the deity holds a bow in one hand and a patera extended over a lighted tripod entwined by a serpent in the other. To the left of the composition stands a laurel tree, a sacred attribute of Apollo, rendered in fine detail consistent with the iconographic programme of the Alexandrian Troas mint celebrating its patron deity. The encircling legend COL AVG TROAD identifies the issuing colony in the field around the reverse design.
